TUPV ECE’s and ME’s aces

-A A +A

Saturday, October 6, 2012

THE first ace comes from these four who hurdled easy, moderate and difficult topics, made correct answers to questions like, “what is the term for a set of four lines, no three of which are concurrent?” or “what frequencies are higher than the sound frequency range?” to “what is the point where a curve intersects itself among four arcs ?” or “what are the particles that include proton and neutron?” and “what is the property of matter that provides a quantitative measure of its resistance to a change in velocity?”

The objective questions were to be answered in 10 seconds, while the problem-solving ones were to be computed in 3 minutes. And these four young gentlemen, all ECE students of the Technological University of the Philippines Visayas in Talisay City, having hurdled the three rounds of questions covering General Mathematics, General Engineering and Applied Sciences, Communication System and Technologies and Electronics Engineering, made it as Regional Champion of the recently held Interscholastic Quiz Show sponsored by the Institute of Electronics and Communications Engineers of the Philippines Visayas Region Chapter.

Held in Iloilo City at the Central University of the Philippines Alumni Promenade Hall, the contest was participated by ten different universities all over the Visayas.

Meantime, their IECEP gold medals, trophy, and the perpetual trophy of the IECEP which will reside in TUP Visayas until the next regional contest next year, will hold firm to the ground the feet of Jino S. Loquinario (DESP scholar), Ned Kristian M. Pesca, Job D. Solilapsi (DOST Scholar) and Doi Asaph T. Guinanao (DOST scholar) to prepare for the National Quiz Bee on November 23, 2012. Study, solve, and pray. These, plus their level-headed attitude, will make these four young adults ready for the national event.

The second ace is the awarding of IECEP Visayas Region Chapter scholarships to two deserving Electronics and Communications Engineering students. Charles Ryan Diel, a 5th year ECE student of TUPV, successfully passed the scholarship exams and interview and was extended P20,000.00 financial assistance for this academic year. The other IECEP-VRC scholar is from Cebu.

And last but not least of TUPV’s aces is its rank 3 among top performing schools in the September 2012 Mechanical Engineering Licensure Board Exams. Eighty nine-point nineteen percent (89.19%) of TUPV’s ME graduates who took the board passed the said exams. Congrats, TUPVians. God bless.
