Biking and Biking as Sports Tourism

WHEN one talks of tourism, oftentimes it is resorts and landmarks that come into the mind of one. The new trend now becomes expanded as anything that could be positively and morally attractive becomes part of the tourism attractions and destinations.

Sports Tourism is one direction that is being fascinatingly become attractive.

In this page, it is biking (motorcycle) and biking (bicycle) that have become the medium of travelling and seeing the sights of a destination of its landmarks and attractions. Whether the landmark is a church, a beach, a historic church, antique products, or even food and special products of one place, they are all part and parcel today of tourism.

Last Saturday, we organized The 1st Iloilo G-Power Friendship Bike Fun 101 where Iloilo cycling hobbyists joined the fun ride from Iloilo to Pavia town led by Pateros Councilor and beauty queen Daisy Garcia Reyes who pedaled all through with new biking friends like Doc Ronel Quinon, Pyt Trimanez and Nelson Hipe. After the fun ride that started and ended at Plazuela de Iloilo, we had the Slow Bike Challenge where bikers could win by pedalling the slowest to reach the finish line. The party culminated with a fellowship dinner and entertainment by Ritmo Tambores Band of Dr. Regil Palmares.

In Bacolod, the Thunderbugs Motorcycle Club of Bacolod will welcome around two hundred big bikers from all over Visayas islands for the MassKara Unity Ride 2012 this Saturday. Bago City Mayor Ramon D. Torres welcomes the big boulevard by the River. Then the bikers drive to celebrate and be part of the MassKara festival at Goldenfield and other parts of the city.
