CRISTINA Poblador Mabojos or Tina or Maricris, sales and marketing officer of GMA Bacolod, says that it has been a busy and productive year for GMA Western Visayas. Despite the continued birth pains and various challenges, with the upper management’s support and with the public’s trust and confidence, plus the hardwork and dedication of the local GMA team and support units, they have reached great heights.
Why is this so? And how did they conquer greater heights? In a deafening message, she says it is because they have the Heart, the “Puso” (which is their brand) and this is the same heart that will see them through any earthquake, supertyphoon or major catastrophe. It is this heart, burning with passion for what they do, that will continuously drive and push them to strive for excellence, to offer “serbisyong totoo” and give until it hurts.
She adds, “The recent turn of events has humbled us and made us realize the significant role that responsible media plays in nation building. It really goes beyond bringing accurate and balanced information so our viewers could make wise and informed decisions. More importantly now than ever, it is to bring our people together …to build linkages where there are gaps… to get our hands dirty and bring help where it is urgently needed. To be Ambassadors of Faith, Hope, Joy and Peace and Love to where there is desperation, hopelessness, sadness, tragedy and violence… to be a beacon of light where there is darkness.”
The recent devastating events that have plagued our country especially our Visayas region bring a lot of food for thought. It has touched sensibilities and consciences. As a fellow journalist and member of the Fourth Estate, realities have redirected our responsibilities and our obligations.
The blatant truth hits a major vein and spears us straight to the heart. It may be GMA’s branding of Kapuso but by the very actions and responses of the general public here and abroad, our hearts are totally touched and we move according to the goodness that is inherent in every human being no matter how bad, there is always goodness in everyone’s heart, in everyone’s soul.
Tina may have referred it to their company that night but it also was re-echoed in everyone present in that evening for their Partners’ Night.
They were overwhelmed with the kindness in donations that poured into their doorsteps for the victims of the Yolanda which they personally distributed in the hard-hit areas of northern Negros. The evening was a toned down affair, less pomp and excess, which was a responsible gesture but overflowing with expressions of gratitude for the many blessings that have come their way.
It may have been a very good year for GMA and I believe that frightful realities do bring out the best in everyone and it will be a greater year especially when every works in the “bayanihan” spirit straight from the heart and conveyed with total commitment for the betterment of the community and the country.
God bless you more!
