DAVAO City, the largest city in the world in terms of area, is now just an hour away from Negros Occidental.
This is because Cebu Pacific Air, the low-cost budget airline, has started its direct flights between Negros Occidental and Davao.
Recently it flew the first aircraft from Bacolod-Silay Airport to Davao City with more than expected passengers for its maiden flight.
At the airport, Bacolod Mayor Monico Puentevella delivered an inspirational message to the passengers, officials, and crew of the airline during the inaugural ceremonies, prior to the maiden flight.
Puentevella said the decision of the airline to have direct flights between Negros and Davao is a positive development for business and tourism in Bacolod and Negros Occidental.
Former governor and now Provincial Capitol consultant Rafael Coscolluela, representing Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr., also delivered a message to the group.
Airline officials led by Agnes Gupalor and Michelle Eve de Guzman welcomed the guests and the passengers of the maiden flight.
In the maiden flight to Davao, selected media personalities of Bacolod flew to Davao along with Your Spotliter on invitation of Art Boncato, assistant secretary for Mindanao of the Department of Tourism.
Boncato welcomed the Bacolod media upon their arrival at the Marco Polo Davao Hotel.
It was a fun experience for the media group as the travel gave them insights on how they can promote Bacolod City to the people of Davao City.
