THIS week, the limelight of the 21st Panaad Festival goes to the 22 beautiful candidates of Lin-ay sang Negros, now on its 20th year.

The Grand Coronation Night on Friday, April 4, will be star-studded, with GMA star Isabelle Daza, the very pretty daughter of Miss Universe 1969 Gloria Diaz, as the host.

The candidates will be serenaded by Kapuso hunks Tom Rodriquez and Dennis Trillo of the phenomenal drama series My Husband’s Lover and surely many ladies and gays will be there to see these two handsome actors.

According to my good friend, Lin-ay pageant committee chair Ian de Ramos, the great grandson of Teofisto Cordova, former mayor of Bacolod City and former governor of Masbate province, the pageant’s motif will be the color emerald because with this color the beauties of the Lin-ay will shine. Therefore we can expect that most of the gowns will be in emerald.

The pageant director is one of the country’s best and he is my Manong dearie, Mr. Rene Hinojales, and surely with the partnership of Ian and Rene, the coronation night will be fabulous.

My early 9 favorites based on beauty during their Press Presentation and Festival Costume over the weekend at Robinsons Place are Lin-ay sang Bacolod Alexis Danica Drilon, Lin-ay sang Isabela Nesha Faith Dianala, Lin-ay sang Himamaylan Kristel Shane Genova, Lin-ay sang E. B. Magalona Lindy Cabanug, Lin-ay sang Murcia Annalita Vizcarra, Lin-ay sang San Carlos Beverly Binghay, Lin-ay sang Talisay Treni Rivera, Lin-ay sang Toboso Maria Kristina Lim, and Lin-ay sang Binalbagan Alyanna Serran.

So, who will be the next Lin-ay queen? Let’s find out on Friday night.*
