Honoring Bacolod’s outstanding mothers-A A +A

IN CELEBRATION of Mother’s Day, five outstanding mothers of Bacolod were honored last week by the Zonta Club for their inspiring and unique stories.
The awardees were Evelyn Jimena and Marieta Pitogo, both of Brgy. 2, Florenda Bandria of Barangay 3, Letecia Ymalay of Barangay Mansilingan, and Leticia Ysulan of Barangay Villamonte.
Bacolod Mayor Monico Puentevella and first lady Josefa Puentevella, who is the project chairman of the club, and Zonta Club of Bacolod president Merle Lizares awarded the five mothers.
The award was for the 1st Search for Outstanding Mothers of Bacolod 2014 that aims to focus public attention and give due recognition to the outstanding mothers in our city who have dedicated their lives towards preparing their children to become achievers on their own fields.
“Unlike other awards given to outstanding mothers, what makes this search unique is the emphasis given to the humble beginnings of the nominees at the start family life,” the Zonta Club said in a press release yesterday.
“Financial difficulties did not prevent them from giving their children good education, leading them to where they are right now, thereby proving that poverty is not a hindrance to success,” the club added.
Zonta Club of Bacolod believes in the goodness of image of the Filipino mother who serve as the “guiding light, calming sight and warriors for right” especially for her children.
