A new leadership in Rotary Bacolod-Central-A A +A
Friday, June 20, 2014
AS THE Rotary Year 2013-2014 draws to a close, the Rotary Club of Bacolod-Central turned over the gavel of leadership to its new president, Architect Rolem Basiya, at an intimate ceremony last Wednesday at Business Inn.
Immediate past president Lourdes Abelido handed to Basiya the gavel and club medallion as a symbol of passing the torch of leadership and to continue the club’s commitment to provide service to the community.
Incoming district governor Jude Doctora, their guest speaker, encouraged the club to put more focus on programs that have greater impact and sustainability, citing the district’s vision to strengthen literacy, health and disaster-response in various communities that the club serves.
Abelido thanked all members for their support during her term, particularly citing how the club came together to share and help out survivors of super typhoon Yolanda.
Basiya, meanwhile, asked the club for their continued support and promised to live up to the expectations of his members.
Gracing the event were past district governor Nanette Garcia (Central), PDG Sonny Elegado (East), president Jake Dumapi (Metro), president Robert Cerrada (North), and outgoing president Ame Toledo (West).
The formal induction of officers will be on June 27 at the L’Fisher Hotel with the Rotary Clubs of Bacolod East and West, and Justice Sec. Leila de Lima as guest speaker.
