Bureau of Fire Protection marks 23rd anniversary-A A +A

THE Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) provincial office in Negros Occidental joined the rest of the bureaus around the country in celebrating its 23rd anniversary.
A Fire Olympics highlighted the Bacolod celebration at SM City last August 2 with the theme, "Isulong ang Kaunlaran, Sunog ay Iwasan, Kaalaman at Pag-iingat ang Kailangan."
Through the games, BFP personnel gave their best in showing how physically and mentally prepared they are in times of fire incidents.
The competitions in the Industrial Fire category were Busted Hose Replacement, Fire Extinguisher Relay, and Straight Hose Layout with Up the Ladder.
In the Barangay Fire category, the contests were Straight Hose Connection, Fire Extinguisher Relay, and Bucket Brigade.
The Lopez Sugar Corporation of Sagay City was the overall champion in the Industrial Fire category; Hawaiian Philippine Company - first runner-up; Roxol Bioethanol of La Carlota City - second runner-up; and Jo Tankers/John B. Lacson Colleges Foundation - third runner-up.
Also participating in the industrial category were Gaisano Grand Group of Companies and Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital.
In the Barangay Fire category, Barangay 2 Poblacion La Carlota City emerged as the overall champion; Barangay Mambulac Silay City - first runner-up; Barangay 4 Hinigaran - second runner-up; Barangay 8 Bacolod City - third runner-up. Also participating was Barangay Cabug, Bacolod City.
The BFP celebration started with a Mass. Magdalo Party-list Representative Gary Alejano and BFP-Western Visayas Director Eleuterio Iturriaga gave inspirational messages.
The participants, led by provincial fire marshal Superintendent Fred Trajeras, held a motorcade from the Provincial Capitol Lagoon to SM City, where the Fire Olympics was held.
