Bacolod City is celebrating the City Tourism Week from September 11 to 15 with the theme “Tourism for Sustainable Development, Fusion of Cultures.”
City Tourism Officer Ma. Elma Gerasmo said the tourism exhibit at the Bacolod City Government Center (BCGC) Lobby features Bacolod’s memorabilia from Japan and Korea.
The exhibit showcases must-see places in Bacolod, Korean masks, Japanese antiques, and national costumes of Southeast countries like the Philippines, Cambodia, Singapore, Lao PDR, Thailand, and Brunei.
Gerasmo said the specialty cuisines of some Asian countries are also displayed at the Food Alley of the BCGC Atrium.
Cultural presentations featuring Asian cultures are being held every afternoon as well as film showing from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the BGC Lobby.
Gerasmo said that on Friday, they will hold the culminating activities at the BCGC with Cosplay presentation of Asian countries, parade of summer kimono, music and folk dances of the Philippines, Vietnam, Japanese, Taiwan, and Indian.
“We invite everybody, especially the students to come and witness our activities," she said.
September is World Tourism Month. The World Tourism Day is celebrated on September 27 to foster awareness among the international community of the importance of tourism and its social, cultural, political, and economic value.
