THE lighted, fantasy-inspired costume designed by Jeomel Jalea and modeled by Marjorie Langcoy bested 15 other finalists on the grand finals of the Nights of Mardi Gras on October 12.

Jalea received P10,000 in cash.

Ethel Denoso’s design worn by Jason Alimodian was adjudged first runner-up, receiving P7,000; Jude Chael’s costume modeled by Denaver Mcquin was second runner-up, with P5,000;

Christian Joed Custodio’s design worn by Aljiz was third runner-up with P3,000; and Ricky Cordova’s costume worn by Florentino Edugos was declared fourth runner-up, with P2,000.

The panel of judges was composed of designers Edwin Benitez and Adrian Torres, and artist Cindy Ballesteros.

The Nights of Mardi Gras is a special event at the Bacolod Public Plaza, the heart of the MassKara Festival.

For two nights, 25 models joined each night. Eight contestants per night advanced to the finals.

Of the 16 finalists, five were declared winners. The 11 non-winning finalists were given P1,000 each. All the 50 participants received P1,000 each.

The winners posed at the Diamond Jubilee Tower located at the Gonzaga side of the plaza. (PR)
