He said that education is among his priorities so when Warlito Rosareal, principal of Sum-ag National High School, requested for funds for the construction of the building, he never hesitated to provide the needed money.
Rosareal, Bacolod City Schools Superintendent Ma. Gemma Ledesma, Asst. Schools Superintendent Clarissa Zamora and others were thankful for the assistance that they said will help the school fulfill its mission to truly educate the students.
Rosareal said the Culinary Arts building is a positive response to the thrust of the Philippine government on poverty alleviation through the operationalization of culinary arts course for Sum-ag National High School students in particular and the citizens of Bacolod City and Negros Occidental in general.
"Sen. Estrada and the school administration share the same vision to prepare our students with relevant competence and qualification, develop knowledge and skills and food presentation for the world of work or entrepreneurship opportunities," Rosareal said.
The Culinary Arts is part of the technical vocational (Tech-Voc) program of the Department of Education. This is part of the curriculum and after students graduate, they can take the national certification from Tesda.
He said that the school was ranked first in the National Achievement Test out of 22 public high schools in Bacolod City. Only Sum-ag High School offers Tech-Voc classes to its students.
