Suspect in rape of caregiver arrested

POLICE have arrested Thursday a suspect allegedly involved in a rape and robbery incident on Monday in Bacolod City.
Station 3 commander Inspector Jose Mulleta said Cyrus Magbanua, 30, by Station 3 operatives at Hacienda Sta. Maria II, Barangay Zone 15, Talisay City, Negros Occidental.
Magbanua is a native of the said hacienda but temporarily live at Purok Boulevard, Barangay 14, Bacolod City.
His arrest came after a 22-year-old victim identified him as one of the suspects who rape her after the suspects robbed her employer's residence on Monday.
She said three suspects, including Magbanua, broke into her employer's house and took assorted jewelries worth P50,000 and some personal belongings of her boss.
After the robbery was consummated, the suspects took turns in raping her and fled. Magbanua denied the accusation.
Mulleta said Magbunua was jailed for a theft case at the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology in Bago City. The suspect was released on March 14, 2011 on probation.
Mulleta said he has a strong case against the rape suspect and his two companions.
