AN ESTAFA case was filed Friday before the City Prosecutor’s Office against an alleged member of a “bodol-bodol” gang who victimized a store retailer in Ilang-Ilang Road, Barangay Mansilingan, Bacolod City last August 11.
Bacolod City Police Office Spokesman Noel Polines said an estafa case was filed against Lemuel Jocson, 27, of KM-09, Barangay Sum-ag, Bacolod. The case was filed by operatives 1ed by Police Inspector Ulysses Ortiz.
Polines said Jocson was arrested after he deceived Rodelyn Gallera, 54, when he tried to encash the check of the victim with the help of male student, who he asked to use his ID.
Polines said the suspect introduced himself as an employee of Nestlé Corporation came to the store of the victim and sold seven boxes of ballpens and promised that a service panel van of the company will visit her store, and will install a signage and will replace the boxes of ballpen she bought by Nestlé products.
But Polines said the suspect only used the name of the company for his personal interest.
Jocson said he only sells school supplies and that he only asked the help of student to encash the check since he does not have an ID.
The suspect also denied that he is a swindler and that he is involved in ‘bodol-bodol’ gang who used the city mayor’s name.
Polines, however, said a service crew of one of the restaurants in Bacolod had testified that the Jocson is not the one who victimized them using the name of Mayor Leonardia.
Polines reminded the public to be vigilant and be aware of the modus of the suspects who use the names of others to get their trust. (Merlinda A. Pedrosa)
