Mayor eyes Murcia cityhood
Thursday, December 1, 2011
MURCIA Mayor Andrew Montelibano said he will work on the cityhood of Murcia in the next four to six years should his beloved Murciahanons give him the mandate until 2019.
Montelibano, the great grandson of the first Mayor of Bacolod City Alfredo “Tyo Peding” Montelibano Sr., said Murcia has been a home to the Montelibanos and that he will not fail both his family and constituents of their trust in giving him the chance to lead them.

“I just served as town mayor for a little more than a year but, as early as now, I can say that we can accomplish many things here, if given the chance to serve Murcia for the next nine years,” Montelibano, who celebrated his birthday Wednesday and marked the first day of the Tinabu-ay festival, said.
“Murcia has big potentials, as long as we do the right things for the Murciahanons. Murcia will not only become a great municipality but also a great city in the future, as more investors now come,” he said.
He said the cityhood cannot be done overnight, adding that he needs the help of his constituent. He said Murcia will still work on the requirements of cityhood, such as local income, land area, and population.
“That is a dream and I hope that I can make it come true,” he said.
