THE Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) is all set to secure the safety of the public during the countdown at the New Government Center (NGC) to welcome the New Year.
BCPO Director Ricardo De la Paz said at least 150 police personnel will be assigned at the NGC along with some volunteers to monitor the possible attack of lawless elements that will take advantage of the celebration.

Of the 150 personnel, 130 of them will be assigned to patrol the area to monitor the pickpockets, thieves and robbers.
At least 40 traffic enforcers will ensure the smooth flow of vehicles during the countdown, which will start at 6 p.m. of December 31.
De la Paz said they will close the entrance from Lopue’s East. Trucks will be banned from entering the circumferential road, which will be converted into a one-way street.
The city director assured that the BCPO is on heightened alert and they will maximize police visibility patrol in different areas of Bacolod while the public celebrates to welcome the New Year.
He said the station commanders were also reminded to monitor their area of responsibility to avoid any untoward incidents, especially at midnight.
