THE Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB)-Western Visayas will conduct a public consultation on January 25 to discuss the petition filed by a group of workers asking for an increase in wage.

Relative thereto, RTWPB advised the business sector to submit their position paper before the scheduled consultation.
Frank Carbon, president of the Metro Bacolod Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said they will oppose any wage hike at this time because it is untimely.
He said everybody, the business sector and ordinary consumers, are both hurt by the series of increases in the prices of fuel.
Oil companies have increased their fuel products by P1 per liter last Tuesday and another increase looms today, Friday.
There is also an impending increase on power rates and even the Bacolod City Water District is also set to file a petition for the increase on water rates, Carbon said.
Although the National Government has already announced to pour hundreds of billions on government projects nationwide, its implementation could take four to six months, according to Carbon.
The implementation of government projects is expected to pump prime the local economy, as it would definitely improve the circulation of money in the countryside.
