Josie Genovea, 45, manager of ZFA Lending Corporation-La Carlota Branch, and resident of NHA Housing, Barangay Pahanocoy, Bacolod, sustained four gunshot wounds below her armpit, left hands and right arm, and an injury in the left portion of her face after she was shot by one of the suspects using .45 caliber pistol when she refused to give her shoulder bag.
De la Paz said after the gunman grabbed the victim’s shoulder bag, he continued firing his firearm to the body of Genovea to make sure that she was dead.
He said the victim was already monitored by the suspects from La Carlota City going to Bacolod.
The city director stated they are still investigating if the suspects are residents of Bacolod or La Carlota.
Genovea was robbed and killed after she alighted from a double tire bus from La Carlota City when unidentified man grabbed her shoulder bag at Bangga RC-1, Araneta Street, Barangay Pahanocoy and was shot when she refused to give her shoulder bag.
After the victim was shot, two unidentified suspects riding in tandem on board a motorcycle fetched the gunman and fled.
De la Paz disclosed that they are still convincing the witnesses to cooperate with the police to determine the identity of the gunman through the help of the National Bureau of Investigation. (MAP)
