Notorious ‘bukas kotse’ suspect falls

A NOTORIOUS ‘bukas kotse’ suspect was arrested after he tried to take the laptop inside the parked car of an account executive at B.S Aquino Drive, Bacolod City Thursday evening.
Station 2 commander P/SInsp. Lester Leada identified the suspect as Romnick Duenas, 19, of Purok Kakahuyan, Barangay Daga, Cadiz City, Negros Occidental.

Investigation showed at about 6:30 p.m., the victim, whose name is being withheld, parked his vehicle along B. S Aquino Drive. When he was about to check his car, he saw the suspect opening the right door of his car and take his laptop worth P28,000, Leada said.
Fortunately, the victim managed to chase the suspect who was arrested at about 6:30 p.m., he said.
Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) Director Senior Supt. Ricardo De la Paz commended the performance of Station 2.
De la Paz said Duenas was the suspect in several ‘bukas and basag kotse’ incidents in Bacolod and he was positively identified by the victim.
He said Duenas was also positively identified by one of the witnesses after he broke the windshields of the vehicle parked along Lacson Street and in Redemptorist Church recently.
He claimed that the suspect is not from Bacolod City and his modus operandi is to ransack vehicles and take valuables placed inside the cars.
The city director assured that they will conduct further investigation if the suspect has his own group that operates here in Bacolod.
The suspect is presently detained at the lock up cell of Station 2.
