THREE policemen under the Negros Occidental Provincial Police Office (Noppo), who are allegedly involved in the killing of a bank employee and wounding of his son, gave a public interview Thursday to clear their names.
Police Officer 2 (PO2) Eric Mongcal and Police Officers Gary Sarap and Adrian Decendario, assigned at the Noppo Public Safety Company Battalion, were implicated in last Saturday’s killing of Jonel Ealdama, 49, a bank employee and the wounding of his son Karl, 16, both residents of Camingawan, Barangay Estefania, Bacolod.

The three are presently under the custody of their company commander, Superintendent Armando Tubongbanua.
Ealdama and his son were allegedly shot around 11 p.m. by PO2 Mauro Taleon, a member of Noppo Public Safety Company Battalion, at a gasoline station just a few meters away from Noppo headquarters in Barangay Estefania.
Mongcal said Thursday over Bombo Radyo that, last Saturday, they attended a party in the house of their friend at Cegasco, Barangay Pahanocoy and they come back at Noppo around 1 a.m.
After the party, Mongcal together with Sarap and Decendario hired a tricycle back to Noppo.
Mongcal claimed that when they reached Camingawan, they saw several persons at the gasoline station but they disregarded the scene and continued traveling back to Noppo headquarters.
He said they have a proof that they come back at Noppo around 1 a.m., since they have a logbook at the gate of Noppo.
He added they were surprised when their names were mentioned in the investigation, claiming that they were not in the area during the shooting incident.
Investigation showed while the Ealdamas were talking outside the 4Ps Convenience store near the gasoline station, the group of Taleon got out from the store and told them to keep quiet, Station 4 commander Adonis Rosales earlier said.
Rosales said a heated argument occurred between Jonel and Taleon, who allegedly drew a gun and fired at Karl. Jonel attempted to run but was also shot by Taleon.
Murder and frustrated murder charges were already filed before the City Prosecutor’s Office against Taleon who was positively identified by witnesses as the person who allegedly shot and killed the father and wounded his son.
Taleon is presently detained at Station 4 jail.
