WHAT is believed to be the largest mass wedding in the country on Valentine’s Day will happen in Bacolod City and it will be witnessed by the Vice President (VP) of the country.
Anne Vinay, the VP’s appointments secretary, relayed to Bacolod City Mayor Evelio R. Leonardia that VP Jejomar Binay accepted the mayor’s invitation to come to Bacolod for the mass wedding.

“I am elated that VP Binay accepted my invitation, as his presence will surely mean a lot to the couples to be wed and to their family and friends,” Leonardia said.
Binay will witness the mass wedding of 750 couples at 4 p.m. on Valentine’s Day at the grounds of Bacolod City New Government Center.
The conduct of mass weddings every February 14th has long been a regular program of the city under the Leonardia administration. For this 2012, Pag-IBIG Fund will be a co-sponsor under its “I do, I do” project.
Mass wedding couples who are Pag-IBIG member will be entitled to take part in a raffle of a house and lot.
The newly-wed couples will be treated to a romantic dinner in front of the Government Center, courtesy of the Pag-IBIG fund and businessman Ricardo V. Yanson, the top honcho of the giant Ceres Transport Group.
Leonardia relayed his invitation to the family and friends of the mass wedding couples and even the public to witness the wonderful event. He encouraged them to hold a picnic dinner on the grounds of the Government Center. However, he is asking them to refrain from bringing tables and chairs.
