Organizers reported an attendance of 87,700 students and physical fitness advocates who danced for 30 minutes, occupying almost entire the 1,300-meter runway of the old airport.
Golez and Lobaton were joined by Department of Health Undersecretary David Lozada; Department of Health Regional Director Ariel Valencia; actors Epi Quizon and Danilo Barrios; beauty queen, actress and business entrepreneur Daisy Reyes; Talentadong Pinoy grand winner Makata Tawanan and thousands of students from private and public schools in Bacolod City headed by Bacolod City School Superintendent Gemma Ledesma.
Despite the threat of a drizzle, Jam Step continued as the students and participants were up to dance to advocate active and healthy lifestyle.
“Every child deserves to be fit, healthy and active,” said Golez and Pimentel.
“We thanked the Lord for giving us this day amidst the rain. Everybody is excited. Thank you so much, children of Bacolod. We just want an exercise for the children,” said Golez.
“I want to praise God. He’s awesome and amazing for letting this happen, despite the light rain. Our target number of participants is only 42,000 but we have reached 87,700. Bacolod is just telling the whole world that despite the rain, Bacolodnons are up to support this endeavor for the good of everyone. I am congratulating the participants and sponsors for making this Jam Step possible. God made this possible for us. Children of Bacolod, you made a difference,” added Pimentel.
Moreover, the students Sunday decided not to consume the mineral water that was intended for them before and after the Jam Step instead “they decided to donate them to the children of Guihulngan who were victims of the recent 6.9-magnitude earthquake that unexpectedly happened in February 6, 2012. We call our children as Bacolod’s modern day heroes,” he said.
