FORTY-EIGHT scholars under the Training for Work Scholarship Program (TWSP) of the Negros Occidental Language and Information Technology Center (NOLITC) are now working in different call centers in Bacolod City.
The scholars coming from the various towns and cities in the province have completed the mandatory 100-hours training program initiated by the Provincial Government in collaboration with the Technology Education and Skills Development Authority (Tesda).

The recently employed graduates of NOLITC were hired by three major call center operators in Bacolod such as Transcom, Panasiatic and Teletech, all of which have been working in partnership with the said learning center as one of their resource centers for agents.
"This program will not only help lower our unemployment rate in the province but will also spur the local economy," said Negros Occidental Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr.
"I encourage our local government units to actively participate in this program to help our youths, particularly the indigent and deserving ones," he added.
NOLITC officer-in-charge Ma. Cristina Orbecido disclosed that "this constitutes a 72 percent employment rate of our graduates, higher than what we have targeted. We are hopeful that this trend will continue."
She attributed the success to the staff and instructors of NOLITC who have "dedicated so much to guide and motivate our students to do well and ensure they secure job placements among our partners."
Thirty-eight TWSP scholars completed their training last Friday.
NOLITC continues to offer Tesda-registered Courses such as Contact Center Services NCII, the English Language Proficiency and Finishing Course for Call Center Agents NCII.
