2 killed in Silay shootout

TWO persons were killed while eight others were injured in a shootout between an alleged member of the Revolutionary Proletarian Army (RPA) and a civilian in a hacienda benefit dance, midnight of Saturday in Hda. Lapuz, Barangay Kapitan Ramon, Silay City.
The fatalities were identified as Richard Centina, 40, of Hacienda Cumabat, Barangay E.Lopez, Silay City and was one of the protagonists in the gunfight, and a certain Sonny Boy Tongcua, 41, of Sitio Mambukog, Talisay City who was reportedly hit in the crossfire.

Tongcua sustained a gunshot wound in the back and was pronounced dead on arrival at Teresita Janlandoni Provincial Hospital while Centina, who was hit in the breast, left arm and feet, died about 5 a.m. Sunday while undergoing medical treatment at Riverside Medical Center.
Injured in the crossfire were Mark Derbin Bacera Mila, 16; Glegerio Guardiano De la Peña, 43, married; Mark Guardiano Llorico, 16; Joel Mainge Rosi, 49, married; Herman De la Cruz Saghe, 42; Johnny Lima Centina, 16.
Silay police chief Superintendent Rosauro Francisco said they received information on the reported shooting incident at about 12 midnight Saturday and immediately proceeded to the area which is located in the outskirts of the city going to the mountains.
He said that based on the information they gathered, Centina and Ryan Tayo, an alleged RPA-ABB member, had a heated argument which led to the shooting incident.
He said that based on witnesses’ accounts, both were armed with short handguns and started shooting at each other while other persons were buying their ticket to go inside the dance hall.
Tayo, who was also reported to have been wounded, fled and is now the subject of police manhunt.
Francisco said Centina and Layo have previous altercations before the shooting incident.
