MISS Bacolod Allysa Marie E. Villarico was hailed 2012 Lin-ay sang Negros in last night’s pageant held at the Pana-ad Park and Stadium.
Villarico outshone 23 other candidates as she secured Bacolod City’s third Lin-ay sang Negros title since the pageant was staged 18 years ago.
About 12,000 people from all over Negros Occidental witnessed the candidates do their best in representing their respective towns and cities in the most prestigious pageant in the province.
Lin-ay sang Negros 2011 Ann Marie Malayo relinquished her title to Villarico whose poise, inner and outer beauty, confidence in answering the question and her classy moves and lofty carriage of her festival costume, gown and swimwear endeared her to the crowd.
This victory is dedicated to and is a victory of the Bacoleños, said Villarico, who received the top cash prize of P60,000.
Lin-ay sang Victorias Jemaimah N. Taladico was adjudged 1st runner-up, bringing home a cash prize of P40,000. Lin-ay sang Talisay Sherizze Sean C. Acot was named as 2nd runner up and received P20,000 cash prize.
Meanwhile, Bacolod City Mayor Evelio R. Leonardia said he is proud of Villarico's victory.
“For us, she is an example of what we can do when we do our best. I am happy that we have shown that, in Bacolod, we are not just after our economic or material advancement but even in other fields. It should tell us again that we must always have the culture of excellence,” he said.
The mayor disclosed that when he saw Villarico before he went out the stage, she already had the aura.
“I saw that enthusiasm and energy in her. We talked very little. I saw that she was a picture of poise in the whole show. As the show was getting into its final stages, I was getting more and more confident that she will make it,” he added.
