NATIONAL Bureau of Investigation (NBI)-Bacolod head Ferdinand Lavin warned the public against dealing with persons claiming to be confidential agents of his office in the province.

Lavin issued the warning as he confirmed that, effective January of this year, the Department of Justice cancelled all authorizations and certifications for confidential agents all over the country.

He said that Justice Secretary Leila De Lima has issued a statement that such authority to hire confidential agents would be given to the director of the NBI.

The President has not yet appointed a full-fledged NBI Director after the term of former Director Magtanggol Gatdula.
Lavin made the clarification amidst reports that there are still persons going around the province claiming to be confidential agents of the NBI.

“If you have some concerns that need to be acted on by your NBI, you should direct them to our office,” Lavin said. (TDE)
