A TOP official of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) regional office said Thursday, two days for the election day, the situation in the 5th district is still manageable.

The special poll in the 5th district of Negros Occidental came following the death of Representative Ignacio Arroyo.

"There are minor problems but still manageable," Comelec Regional Director lawyer Dennis Ausan said.

"We hope that until election day the situation will remain peaceful," he added.

Ausan said Comelec Commissioner Armando Velasco arrived Thursday, while another commissioner, Christian Lim, together with Comelec chairman Sixto Brillantes, will arrive today, Friday, to oversee the conduct of the special election.
