THE Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) is all set for the 74th Charter Anniversary celebration of the city on Monday, said BCPO Director Senior Supt. Ricardo De la Paz yesterday.
Security measures for the arrival of Vice-President Jejomar Binay, the guest of honor and speaker in said celebration, are already in place, he added.
De la Paz, chairman of committee on parade, said this year’s activity will be lively and colorful than the other previous celebrations.
Meanwhile, he disclosed that the number of participants in the parade was reduced by 50 percent to shorten the activity. The invited participants are the marching units from the uniformed service, Armed Forces of the Philippines, private and public schools, among others.
He added the parade will start from Lacson Street going to Bacolod Public Plaza.
The city director further said that several roads in Bacolod will be closed during the activity, citing that 6th-Lacson Streets to Lacson-Libertad Streets and Araneta-Libertad Streets up to the Bacolod Public Plaza will be closed starting 11 am for the 4 pm civic and military parade.
He said that north-bound vehicles will be rerouted to Palanca Street at the Reclamation Area, make a left turn to San Sebastian Street and turn right to San Juan Street going to Brgy. 14 and going to Lizares Street.
He added the south- bound vehicles will have to use either Lizares or Roxas Streets while eastbound vehicles may also use Lopez Jaena Street.
