Mayor thanks people who helped Bacolod

BACOLOD City officials led by Mayor Evelio Leonardia gave the Mayor’s Special Citation to 20 well-meaning Bacolodnons and organizations who and that had contributed in transforming Bacolod City into the very progressive city that it is today.

The Mayor’s Special Citation was given during the program for the 74th Charter Anniversary of Bacolod City held Monday at the Bacolod City Government Center with Makati City officials led by Mayor Jun Jun Binay.

The individual awardees were:

Jonathan Mañego and Ivan Amar for their heroic and courageous act of civic mindedness that resulted to the apprehension of the killers of Dr. Andres Gumban, a doctor who was slain in his home recently;

Emil June “Tata” Bantolo, Frederick “Boyet” Andrada and Nidalyn Rose Villones for the Bacolod City MassKara Festival entry, which was adjudged grand champion in the inter-town edition of ABS-CBN’s It’s Showtime!;

Representative Alfedo Abelardo “Albee” Benitez (Negros Occidental, 3rd District), who was represented by Murcia Mayor Andrew Montelibano, for his gracious and generous support to Bacolod’s MassKara Festival entry to It’s Showtime, particularly the use of his private helicopter; and Barangay Captains Deogracias dela Vega, Rogelio Pabiana Jr. and Wenceslao Parlan for their collaboration and support to the event;

David Villanueva for his generous donation of 150 pieces reflectorized vests for the use of traffic enforcers of the Bacolod Traffic Authority Office; Fa Tzang Temple represented by Jimmy Ong, for donating medical equipment to the Bacolod City Birthing Center;

Nabil Edmond Salamouni, Chief Executive Office of Panasiatic Solutions, for donating P200,000 worth of pyrotechnics during the first New Year’s Day Countdown;

Siva Subramaniam, CEO of TRANSCOM, Inc., for his donation of 50 units trisikad for the various livelihood programs of Bacolod City,

Gymnast Katrina Marie Beatrice Evangelista, Mary Anthony Diesto and Irene Therese Bermejo for their achievements in athletics; Maria Imelda Gargarita for having organized a MassKara contingent composed of 100 Filipino Americans, which joined and won first place in the recent 14th Philippine Independence Day parade along Madison Avenue in Manhattan, New York; and, Roger Oriel for having featured Bacolod City and the MassKara Festival in the Asian Journal and Balikbayan magazines of which he is the publisher and chief executive officer, which are extensively circulated in California, New Jersey and New York.

The organization awardees include:

SM Prime Holdings, Inc. represented by SM mall manager George Jardiolin, in grateful recognition of their sound conviction in the flourishing economy of Bacolod by pouring in P1.4 billion additional investments through infrastructure and business, augmenting the original P1.6 billion investment in 2007;

Robinson’s Land Corporation represented by Robinson’s mall manager Joseph Sian, in grateful recognition of their solid confidence in the prospering economy of Bacolod City by the pouring in of about P1 billion additional investments through infrastructure and business.
