A TEAM of inspectors led by Bacolod City Executive Assistant Ernie Pineda conducted Monday a surprise inspection of the weighing scales at Libertad Public Market.
Pineda said that out of the 260 weighing scales inspected Monday, 253 have been sealed, calibrated and tested, while seven were confiscated after they were found to be defective.
He said the inspection was conducted to protect the consumers and as a result of complaints received by the city's Consumers Welfare Desk.
Joining the inspection were the Market Coordinating and Monitoring Task Force, City Mayor's Office-Price Monitoring Unit, City Treasurer's Office-License, Weight and Measure Section, Department of Trade and Industry, Libertad Market supervisor and personnel and elements of Police Station 6.
Pineda said they will also inspect peddlers and trisikad vendors selling fruits, since there are also complaints about the weighing scales they are using. (CNC)
