Repair of Pahanocoy-Sum-ag road slated July

BACOLOD City lone district Representative Anthony Golez Jr. said on Wednesday the repair of the Pahanocoy-Sum-ag-Bago City road might be implemented in July.
“Funds were already allocated for the project and the DPWH (Department of Public Works and Highways) has already received a notice to proceed,” said Golez about the project, which involves about P300 million, and covers the widening and improvement of the roads and possibly the bridges in those areas.
City Councilor Bobby Rojas earlier sponsored a resolution, which was passed by the City Council, requesting Golez and the DPWH to repair those roads that residents and commuters in southern Negros Occidental have dubbed as “abortion roads” due to their potholes.
Rojas said the road from Pahanocoy to Sum-ag is a main thoroughfare but it is filled with big potholes that contribute to accidents in the area.
Rojas pointed out in his resolution that now is the best time to implement the repair, as the milling season has already ended and big trucks no longer pass by the area. (Carla N. Canet)
