Mayors ‘disgruntled’ over guv’s leadership

PROVINCIAL Board Member Salvador Escalante said Monday that some mayors in the province were disgruntled with the leadership of Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. but he said this was already “patched up.”
“There were disgruntled mayors in the south and in the north but they were already patched up and the differences were already solved,” he said.
He said the reduction in the internal revenue allotment of towns and cities in the province has caused the misunderstanding among them.
Escalante also clarified reports of a rift among members of the United Negros Alliance (UNA). The rift was reported to be the main reason why the supposed meeting of the party last month did not push through.
He said there is no rift between the governor and the vice governor, refuting reports of a possible showdown between the two top officials for the gubernatorial slot in the 2013 elections. (Teresa D. Ellera)
