WILKINSON Construction posted the lowest bid for the construction of the Educational and Training Center School (ETCS) IV during the opening of bids by the bids and awards committee (BAC) at the Bacolod Government Center Tuesday.
Under a 50-50 sharing partnership with the Department of Education, the city will build a three-storey public elementary school on its two-hectare property at the Reclamation Area.
BAC chairman Goldwyn Nifras said Tuesday other bidders who submitted their bids were Cris D. P. Construction from Iloilo, Unitek Construction from Zamboanga and Dynamic Builders of Bacolod.
Also present during the bidding were BAC vice chairman and Budget Officer Luzviminda Treyes, City Assessor Maphilindo Polvora, engineer Elma Advincula, architect Jares Encabo and secretariat head Melvin Ricarbar.
Nifras said only Wilkinson Construction’s bid was opened Tuesday, since it was able to pass the eligibility check while the rest failed the check for one reason or another.
Wilkinson offered a bid price that was lower by about P100,000 from the Approved Budget for the Contract (ABC) of about P24 million, he added.
Nifras has already directed the technical working group (TWG) to conduct the post-qualification soon. The TWG is composed of engineers Belly Aguillon and Xenia Locsin, City Accountant Ed Ravena and project engineer Aladino Agbones.
If Wilkinson passes the post-qualification stage, BAC will make the recommendation to the city mayor for the project to be awarded to the winning bidder.
The new ETCS-IV is intended to increase the capacity of ETCS to accept more students.
Education Secretary Armin Luistro and Mayor Evelio Leonardia signed the memorandum of agreement for the project at the DepEd main office last February 9. (CNC)
