Voter’s registration in Negros Occidental to resume August 1
-A A +AMonday, July 9, 2012
THE registration of voters in Negros Occidental is set to resume on August 1 after it was temporarily suspended due to the assignment of all Commission on Elections (Comelec) officers and assistant officers in the province to Sulu.
The 53 Comelec officers in the province led by Provincial Comelec supervisor lawyer Jessie Suarez were distributed in four barangays in Sulu for the general registration of voters in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (Armm) that will last on July 18.
One hundred thirty-three other Comelec personnel from the rest of Western Visayas were also sent to Sulu to augment the Comelec staff for the Armm registration.
The general registration of voters was also held in the provinces of Lanao del Sur, Maguindanao, Basilan and Tawi-Tawi.
The Comelec officers underwent seminar in the province before they were dispatched to Sulu to prepare the province for an honest and credible registration of voters through an updated list of voters. (Teresa D. Ellera)
