Capitol plans to buy another dredger

NEGROS Occidental Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. said the Provincial Government plans to acquire another dredger, as several mayors demanded that they need the equipment for their flood control efforts.
The dredger purchased by the Provincial Government is presently tied up with dredging works in EB Magalona, San Enrique, Hinigaran and Pontevedra.
Mayor David Albert Lacson of EB Magalona said that they need the dredger to clear the town’s rivers to address the flooding in the flood-prone areas in the town.
Aside from the dredger, the Provincial Government has also acquired several other pieces of heavy equipment to address the flooding problems all over the province.
Marañon said the Capitol intends to purchase a Chinese-made dredger, which is cheaper than the American-made Caterpillar machine. (TDE)
