AN accountant who formerly ran as councilor in Bacolod City and is allegedly in the wanted list of International Police (Interpol) was nabbed during the service of a search warrant at his residence in Barangay Montevista, Bacolod, on Wednesday morning.
Numerous live ammunitions of high-powered firearms were seized from the suspect.
Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG)-Bacolod head Police Chief Inspector Fernando Salvatierra identified the suspect as Emmanuel Benares Aguilar alias “Epe,” resident of Homesite Subdivision, Barangay Montevista, Bacolod. He was arrested at about 6:30 a.m. by virtue of search warrant issued by Judge Edgar Garvilles, of Regional Trial Court branch 47.
Police recovered from his residence hundreds of empty shells and live ammunition of different kinds of guns from pistols to machine guns, holsters, magazines and pouches.
Salvatierra said the suspect was in wanted list of Interpol. He said they received information that the suspect has a pending arrest warrant in Nevada.
Aguilar was also a former candidate for councilor in Bacolod City in 2010 election.
Salvatierra said they also received complaints that the suspect engaged in illegal firing in their barangay.
Aguilar said the live ammunitions were owned by his late father and the firearms were already sold by his father. He also denied that he is in the wanted list of Interpol.
Aguilar is presently detained at the lock up cell of CIDG-Bacolod. (Merlinda A. Pedrosa)
