NEGROS Occidental Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. gave President Benigno Aquino III a rating of 87 percent for his second year in office as the highest official of the land.

Marañon said that if he has his way of telling the President what to include in his second State of the Nation Address (Sona) next Monday, July 23, he will tell him to hasten the release of funds for the President's approved projects.

The governor pointed out that Aquino has been pouring in several projects in the province, noticeably the construction of roads and bridges.

He cited the Fabrica bridge in Sagay City, which is expected to be completed on April next year. Another ongoing project is the access road from the Bacolod-Silay airport to the Circumferential Road in Barangay Bata, Bacolod. The project was initiated by Representative Albee Benitez (3rd district).

Marañon said that during the Sona, Aquino is expected to mention the economic progress of his administration, like the robust stock market performance and the seven percent growth rate of the country, despite the economic recession in other industrial and progressive countries like the US and Europe.
