Ex-vice mayor: Bredco not an issue for me

BACOLOD Real Estate Development Corporation (Bredco) legal counsel and former vice mayor of Bacolod City Renecito Novero said on Sunday that being in Bredco is not an issue in his interest in running for vice mayor in the 2013 elections.
He said that when he served as the city vice mayor, he always inhibited himself when there was an issue about Bredco. He said he gave way to the number one councilor to preside over the session or in the conduct of committee and public hearings.
He asked those who challenge him to pinpoint an instance where he made a decision at the council that sided or favored Bredco over the city, as he stressed that he always made sure that he did not involve himself in the discussions about the firm.
“If I take a stand, it is always for the good of the city,” he said.
Amid criticisms thrown at Bredco for opposing the development of Banago Port, Novero asserted that the firm favors development for the city as a whole.
Novero said Bredco president lawyer Simplicio Palanca started the development of the port and reclamation project way back in 1961.
Novero also cited the big investments that came to Bacolod, as well as the employment and livelihood opportunities which were created because of Bredco.
