A PREGNANT woman was injured when a concrete post fell on a public utility jeepney (PUJ) at Araneta Avenue-Alijis Road, Bacolod City Wednesday, Traffic Management Unit case investigator SPO1 Xavier Rama said.
Rama identified the victim as Shirley Belanio, 36, six-months pregnant and a resident of Barangay Tabunan, Bago City, Negros Occidental.
Initial investigation showed that around 11 a.m., a Rio truck raised its dump box, which snagged the wires attached to the concrete post, thereby pulling down the post.
The dump truck, which belongs to the Provincial Agriculture Office (PAO), was driven by Giovannni Braña, 47, of Purok Cabuguason, Barangay Mansilingan, Bacolod. It was loaded with 500 seedlings for the Provincial Government’s reforestation program.
The concrete post fell on a passenger jeepney with plate number FWB 746 driven by Gerardo Belanio, 44, the victim’s husband.
Rama added that Shirley was seated in the front passenger side of the jeep when the accident occurred.
Shirley was immediately rushed to the Bacolod Adventist Hospital for medical treatment, while Braña voluntarily surrendered to Station 8. (MAP)
