CHIEF Superintendent Agrimero Cruz, regional director of the Philippine National Police (PNP) - Western Visayas, pledged to continue the one-strike policy on illegal gambling.
Under such policy, a station commander will be relieved from his post if operatives from the Police Regional Office (PRO) apprehend illegal gambling-related activities in his area of responsibility.
Cruz said that the policy is implemented nationwide upon orders of the PNP chief.
Cruz took over as the new regional director of PRO 6 as successor of Chief Superintendent Cipriano Querol who assumed command of the Special Action Force, an elite unit of the PNP.
The change of command was held yesterday at Camp Martin Delgado in Iloilo City. Illegal gambling activities have been noted to be still rampant in the province.
Cruz, who was the head of the Police Community Relations Group (PCRG) prior to his assignment as the new PRO 6 chief, vowed that he will give priority on the campaign against illegal gambling.
