BACOLOD City Vice Mayor Jude Thaddeus Sayson said on Monday that majority of the 61 village chiefs in the city are supporting his bid to run for mayor of Bacolod next year.
He said of that of the 61 village chiefs, 44 are for him while 17 support the other mayoralty aspirant.
"My bid was acceptable to them and I thank them for that. For the meantime, I will just continue serving my fellow Bacolodnons," he said.
Sayson's possible contender is former Bacolod City lone district representative Monico Puentevella who is currently in London attending the 2012 London Olympics being the country's Olympic committee chair.
Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia wanted Sayson to be his successor and will help Sayson win the post against Puentevella, Leonardia’s long-time political nemesis.
Earlier, Puentevella said that his political fight with Leonardia is over because both of them will be gunning for different posts in 2013.
Leonardia will challenge incumbent Representative Anthony Golez Jr., while Puentebella aspires for the post vacated by Leonardia. (Carla N. Canet)
