Hike in MassKara tilts funding, prizes sought

A BACOLOD City councilor is seeking an increase in the funding to barangays joining the MassKara Festival this October.
Among the major events of Bacolod City's MassKara Festival this coming October 1-22 will be the MassKara Festival Streetdance Competition and Electric MassKara Float Competition.
Festival organizers will determine the 15 contingents for the barangay streetdance and 10 for the Electric MassKara performing float competition.
Councilor Sonya Verdeflor said the participating barangays in these competitions are spending every year thousands of pesos to prepare and put up superb, impressive and grand performances fitting for the world-renowned MassKara Festival.
Thus, to enable participating barangays to come up with world-class performances and to encourage their involvement and active participation during the festival, it is incumbent upon the City Government to extend increased fund support to the participating barangays, Verdeflor said. (CNC)
