LP strengthens force in Bacolod

THE Liberal Party (LP) has strengthened its political force in this city with the entry of new members who took their oaths of membership on Friday.
These new members were incumbent Councilors Elmer Sy, Sonya Verdeflor, Archie Baribar and Catalino Alisbo. With them were former councilors Jocelle Batapa- Sigue, Ana Marie Palermo and Juan Ramon Guanzon and broadcaster Marlon Solidum.
LP Provincial Chairman of Negros Occidental third district Representative Albee benitez said the new members believe in the principles and vision of the party that rejects the politics of convenience in favor of the politics of conscience, adding that other political parties are personality based but the LP stands for its mission of continuing the social agenda and social transformation that they have started.
When asked if the LP can be their vehicle to victory, Benitez said he will rather let the voters decide if they like the social agenda that the LP stands for. If they answer in the affirmative, he would also take the same stand.
The membership of the Bacolod officials is a rebirth of that generation where men and women with the same aspiration come together to bond for a better Bacolod.
Councilor Sy, when asked if he will run for mayor with his membership with the LP, he said he will only run if former Councilor Monju Guanzon will not run for the same post.
Guanzon immediately responded, “I will not run for any position. My membership with the LP is meant to help and not for any political plan… Like Councilor Sy, less talk, less mistake.”
Meanwhile, Sigue who has been an LP member since 2010 has also expressed her intention to seek election for councilor.
Verdeflor, in her part, said, "I joined LP because it will be better to transform Bacolod with the LP on your side, a party that has sincerity and integrity to serve.” (Carla N. Canet)
