Capitol assures release of employees’ bonuses

PROVINCIAL Administrator Enrique Pinongan assured that the bonuses of Capitol employees would be released in due time for the coming holidays in December.
Pinongan made the assurance after some employees expressed fears that their bonuses might also be affected by the ongoing political squabbling among the officials after the Provincial Board (PB) failed to act on the P240 supplemental budget requested by Governor Alfredo Maranon Jr.
Pinongan said the Christmas bonus and extra pay for the employees depend on the savings incurred by the province that could be determined in October.
The sources of funds for such extra pay and Christmas bonuses are savings from the personal service and maintenance and other operating expenses (MOOE), he added.
The inaction of the PB on the proposed supplemental budget is believed to have something to do with the looming fight between Governor Maranon and Vice Governor Genaro Alvarez for the gubernatorial post in 2013.
In an interview, Alvarez said the PB members are reviewing the details of the supplemental budget.
The PB’s inaction on the governor's request is out of the ordinary because previously, the PB immediately passed the requests of the governor, especially pertaining to budget. (TDE)
