CHARGES for frustrated murder, direct assault upon a person in authority and illegal possession of firearm are now being readied against a fisherman who was nabbed in Barangay Sum-ag, Bacolod City, Sunday.
Station 9 commander Placido Gentoleo said Monday that they are now preparing charges against Glenn Mark Sitias, alias “Boy Negro,” of Purok Mabinuligon, Barangay Sum-ag.
Gentoleo said Sitias has been confined at the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital after he sustained a gunshot wound in his right thigh when he was shot by one of the responding officers during a follow-up operation in Barangay Sum-ag.
Investigation showed that around 2:50 p.m., they received a report from Armando Caluscusan, a village watchman, informing them that the suspect was creating alarm and scandal at Purok Mabinuligon, Barangay Sum-ag and was armed with an unidentified firearm.
Gentoleo said when his personnel responded to the area, they met Gilbert Morillo, who told them that he was shot by the suspect twice while he was carrying his child.
Gentoleo said that in the follow-up operation, Sitias tried to hide in the garbage disposal area and was asked to surrender but, instead of listening to them, the suspect shot the responding police officers.
The personnel returned fire, hitting the suspect in the thigh.
Police recovered from Sitias an improvised firearm or sulpak with five bullets of an M14 rifle.
Gentoleo said the suspect was immediately rushed to the for medical treatment. (MAP)
