A POLICEMAN who shot two cousins, one of whom was killed, voluntarily surrendered Wednesday to his immediate superior at Bingawan Police Station under Iloilo Police Provincial Police Office (IPPO).
Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) DirectorRicardo De la Paz Wednesday said Bingawan station commander Johnny Tumambing informed him at 11:45 a.m. Wednesday, Police Officer 3 Kenneth Cerbo voluntarily surrendered in his station and he brought to IPPO Director Gil Lebin.
Cerbo, who is temporarily staying at Purok Seaside, Barangay Tangub, this city, was the suspect in killing Greggy Alfonso and shooting his cousin Rodolfo Alfonso, 25, both residents of Purok San Roque, Barangay Tangub last August 11 in said barangay.
Initial investigation showed at 10:45 p.m. while the two cousins were walking along Purok Seaside, Barangay Tangub to buy ice. They met the suspect who immediately shot them for undetermined reason.
De la Paz said Tumambing told him that Cerbo is willing to face his crime.
Cerbo committed an absent without leave (Awol) on Wednesday, because of this the City Prosecutors Office will serve the subpoena directing him to submit his reply within 10 days for the charges of murder and frustrated murder filed against him, De la Paz added.
The city director disclosed, since Cerbo is no longer covered by hot pursuit operation, the cop will stay in the custody of IPPO while BCPO waits for the issuance of the arrest warrant against him. (Merlinda A. Pedrosa)
