NEGROS Occidental Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. asked Regional Police Director Agrimero Cruz to make Senior Superintendent Milko Lirazan a full-fledged director of the Negros Occidental Provincial Police Office (Noppo).
Lirazan sits in an acting capacity only at Noppo.
Marañon said Cruz verbally approved his recommendation during the latter’s courtesy visit at his office on Tuesday.
The governor also reiterated to Cruz for the Philippine National Police to prioritize its campaign against illegal gambling in the province.
"Illegal gambling makes the poor poorer but makes the operators richer. So we must eradicate, if not totally at least minimize the illegal gambling activities," Marañon said.
Aside from illegal gambling, the governor also asked the regional police director to prioritize the eradication of illegal drugs because like illegal gambling, the drug lords are also making money at the expense of the drug dependents and users.
Cruz, meanwhile, noticed the improvement of the insurgency problem in the province.
He also emphasized Tuesday his zero tolerance policy in all forms of illegal activities. (TDE)
