BCPO: Crime volume down 10 percent

FOR the period January to July 2012, the crime volume in Bacolod City has reduced by 10.41 percent compared with the same period in 2011 and 2010, Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) Director Ricardo De la Paz said Friday.
De la Paz said BCPO recorded about 1,213 crime incidents from January to July this year, compared with the same period in 2011 which recorded 1,354 crime incidents while in 2010, 2,835 crime incidents happened in Bacolod.
He said the record shows that there is a decrease of 141 incidents or 10.41 percent compared with the same period in 2011 and 2010.
De la Paz said the month of June recorded the highest crime rate with the total of 215 incidents.
BCPO also expects the increase of crime incidents this coming October during the MassKara Festival celebration and on the months of November and December, he said.
The city director stated that police intensified their crime prevention program to pre-empt the possible operations of snatchers and hold-uppers in the city.
He said all the station commanders were already directed to intensify their crime prevention program in anticipation of this yuletide season. (Merlinda A. Pedrosa)
