GOVERNOR Alfredo Marañon Jr. led the blessing, inauguration and reopening of the P2 million overflow bridge in Barangay Mabini, Cadiz City.
Nemesio dela Cruz, chairman of the Victorias Mill District Development Council Foundation, Inc. (VMDDCFI), said the overflow bridge was completed through the counterpart funds from the Provincial Government and Victorias Milling Company, Inc. at P1 million each.
The repair of the overflow bridge was pegged at P1,860,300 while the rest of the funds were spent on back filling on the approximately 2.3-kilometer road from the overflow bridge to the national highway.
The VMDDCFI spearheaded the project, dela Cruz said.
The bridge is a great help for both the small and big planters in the area, as this would shorten their travel during delivery of canes going to and from the sugar central. They would save at least three to four liters of fuels, dela Cruz pointed out.
Marañon in his message emphasized counter parting by the local government and the stakeholders for the realization of projects.
He said that such bridge project is already the second such project. The first bridge was in Sicaba River that cost P4 million. (Teresa D. Ellera)
