Police bat for implementation of ‘eye in the sky ordinance’

THE Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) is hoping for the implementation of City Ordinance No. 595 or the eye in the sky comprehensive closed-circuit television ordinance.
BCPO Director Senior Supt. Ricardo De la Paz said the CCTV is a big help to the city police in expediting the solution and identifying the suspects in crime incidents in the city.
He said the said ordinance has an allocated budget of P5 million for its implementation.
Section 4 of said ordinance stated that the City Government shall install, use and maintain a CCTV system to be managed by the Office of City Mayor through the BCPO.
The CCTV system shall constantly monitor and record in real-time the flow of traffic and the movement of the people.
De la Paz said the CCTV will be installed in the city’s key strategic places, including the main thoroughfares, major artery roads, as well as in busy and congested public areas like the public market and city government-run transport terminals, parks and other facilities.
He added that the of eye in the sky ordinance is very timely and that its implementation could help monitor the crime-prone areas and to immediately identify the suspects involved in crime incidents.
