Marañon: A majority of one is a landslide
-A A +ASaturday, September 15, 2012
"A MAJORITY of one is a landslide," Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. declared Friday.
Marañon cited the famous saying of former US Senator Robert Kennedy when asked for comment about the statement of his would-be opponent Vice Governor Genaro Alvarez that he would win by more than 150,000 votes lead over Marañon in the 2013 elections.
Marañon also said that the United Negros Alliance (UNA), where he will stick with and the party he will carry in the 2013 elections, still enjoys the support of several members of the Liberal Party (LP).
He named some like Silay City Mayor Jose Montelibano, Patrick Escalante and Representative Alejandro Mirasol (5th district), among others.
This is in reaction to reports of the joining of the forces of the Nationalist People's Coalition (NPC) and LP apparently because of the meeting between Alvarez and Representative Albee Benitez (3rd district), who is the chairman of LP in Western Visayas.
Marañon also said that he will soon announce his running mate and the national party he will run under during the 2013 elections. (Teresa D. Ellera)
